August 21st, 2017 saw a total eclipse passing through a large swath of the continental United States. This awe inspiring sight passed directly over Loch Low-Minn, starting at 1:00PM, culminating in a total eclipse at 2:32PM that lasted for just under three minutes, and ended at 4:00PM. To allow as many people as possible to experience this extraordinary event, we set up an eclipse viewing party for divers and non-divers alike.
Doors for the show opened at 10:30AM and remained open until 1:00PM. Our parking field had 150 parking spots, with an additional field set aside for visitors to comfortably view the eclipse. Visitors gathered early and set up tents and blankets to get a comfortable view of the sky.
Parking was directed by the Farragut Flagship FIRST Robotics Team 3140, who also sold drinks and snacks throughout the day. Their help and assitance throughout the event was invaluable.
